Obituary

Willard H. Van De Berg died Thursday, October 9, 2008 at Avera McKennan Hospital. Willard was born on February 18, 1930 at Orange City, IA to Henry and Cornelia (Vanthol) Van De Berg. After his education Willard began farming west of Madison, SD and in 1956 bought a farm north of Colman. Willard worked on the construction of the Oahe Dam and later Big Bend Dam. He farmed until 1998 but continued to raise livestock. Willard was a member of Faith Reformed Church in Brookings.

Willard is survived by three brothers: Richard, Brookings, Stanley (Judy), Sioux Falls and David, Colman; his dog, Lickey, and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters; Lillian (Van De Berg) DeBoer and infants Arloa and Marjorie; 2 brothers: Andrew and Elmer; brother-in-law, Theron De Boer and a niece, Arloa Jean De Boer.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday at Faith Reformed Church, Brookings, with burial in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Colman. Visitation begins at 11:00 am Monday at the church.
