Virgil D. Van Holland died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 at Pipestone County Hospice Residence.

Virgil was born on November 25, 1950 at Sioux Falls to Bert and Jennet (Top) Van Holland. He attended schools in Sioux Falls and Dell Rapids graduating from Dell Rapids High School in 1969. He entered the US Army and served in the Vietnam War. Virgil married Theresa Gill on August 10, 1973 in Dell Rapids. Virgil owned and operated his own livestock equipment business on his acreage.

Virgil is survived by his wife, Theresa, a son: Travis (Angela), Garretson; two daughters: Shelly (Keenan) Roth, Colman and Lori (Larry Jr.) Peters, Flandreau; 6 grandchildren: Jenna Van Holland; Ethan, Kylie and Ryan Roth; and Owen and Olivia Peters;3 brothers: Arvin (Carol) Van Holland, Egan, Brent (Joy) Van Holland, Sioux City, IA, and Verlyn (Janice) Van Holland, Dell Rapids. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with burial in Union Cemetery, Flandreau. Visitation begins at 2:00 pm Monday with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00 pm all at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
