Virgil Carl Stembaugh, age 89, passed away November 10, 2019 at Riverview Healthcare Community in Flandreau SD. Virgil was born July 19, 1930 in Flandreau SD, to Ivan and Martha (Lunschen) Stembaugh. Virgil enjoyed farming his entire life. The only interruption occurred when he was called to the Army in the Korean War. He earned the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Virgil is survived by his sister, Evelyn McCaskell (Wes) of Rapid City; his nephews, Brad McCaskell (Tanya) of Rapid City, Todd McCaskell of Pierre, Greg Erwin (Suzanne) of Woonsocket, Richard Stembaugh, Michael Stembaugh, Gilbert Jr. Stembaugh; and a niece, Kathleen Stembaugh. He was preceded in death by his sisters Mavis Erwin and Mildred Stembaugh as well as his brother Gilbert Stembaugh.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Elkton with burial in Elkton City Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Thursday.
