Virgil E. Myers, 82, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Riverview Health Services, Flandreau. He was born on the family farm in Moody County on January 27, 1931 to Walter and Esther (Otto) Myers. Virgil attended country schools in Springcreek Township. After school he served two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Virgil married Mary Ellen Kramer on September 29, 1956 in Flandreau. He worked for Sioux Falls Construction and John Morrell until his retirement. Virgil enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.

Virgil is survived by his wife Mary Ellen, one son Kevin (Chris), Elkton; one daughter Theresa, Sioux Falls; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one brother Merle. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Janet and his brother Wallace.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau with burial in Union Cemetery, Flandreau. Visitation is from 5:00 – 8:00 pm Friday at the funeral chapel.
