Vernon Gene Dilly, 61, passed away Friday, June 26, 2015 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Gene was born on November 25, 1953 in Madison, SD, to Virgil and Arvilla (Dyce) Dilly. He attended Rutland School until enlisting in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged in December 1973 to come home and farm with his father Virgil. Gene continued to farm and raise cattle until 1997. He began working at T & R Electric in Colman, SD where he became foreman of the yard crew. He loved his family, gardening, animals, pheasant hunting with his children and cousins from Missouri, and visiting with the "shop" crew in the evenings, especially Jerry Skyberg and Cody Tveito. He was a member of the Nunda American Legion Post #105. Gene married Bonnie Wosje on November 14, 1974 in Aurora, SD. Gene and Bonnie have three children, Sara Millard, Madison, SD, Laura Dilly, Sioux Falls, SD, and Charles Dilly, Hardwick, MN, one granddaughter Kaley Millard, Sioux Falls, SD.

Survivors include his wife and children, mother Arvilla Dilly, Brookings, SD, brother Virgil Dean Dilly, Rutland, SD, sisters, Dana (Richard) Herr, Sioux City, IA, Donna (Joel) Overskei, Nunda, SD, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many cousins. Gene was preceded in death by his father Virgil, in laws Marvin (Hap) and Adeline Wosje, and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be 7:00 pm Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 pm Tuesday prior to the service.
