Verna J. Keiser, 78, of Colman and Yankton died Sunday, October 3, 2010 at her home in Yankton. Verna was born March 12, 1932 at Montrose, SD to Olaf and Edith (Erickson) Lindstrom. She started her education in Montrose and graduated from Rutland High School in 1950. Verna was married to Donald Bothern on February 24, 1951 at Colman, SD. They lived on a farm in Fremont Township and she moved into Colman in 1978. Verna worked at Dakota Industries and Raven Industries in Sioux Falls. Then she worked at May & Scofield in Madison until she retired. Verna married Merle Keiser on November 8, 1997 at Tea, SD and they lived between their two homes in Yankton and Colman. Verna was a former member of Midway Lutheran Church.

Verna is survived by her husband, Merle; one daughter, Donna (David) Reaves, Marshall, MN; two sons, Rick (Barb) Bothern, Tea, SD, Ronald (Charlene) Bothern, Colman, SD; three stepsons, Neal Keiser, Malmo, NE, Curtis (Colleen) Keiser, Black Hawk, SD and Randy (Gloria) Keiser, Yankton; eight grandchildren; 3 great-granddaughters and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one brother, Terry (Joanne) Lindstrom, both of Sioux Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Norton, Lawrence and Allen and two sisters, Virginia and Mary Lou.

Funeral services will be Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Midway Lutheran Church, Colman with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM on Wednesday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Colman with a 7:00 PM prayer service.
