Timothy J. Menning, 44, died Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at his home in rural Flandreau. Tim was born January 29, 1967 in Luverne, MN to Clyde and Ginny (Lunstra) Menning. He graduated from Luverne High School in 1986. Tim worked for IBP in Luverne and in the early 1990's started working at the SD State Penitentiary as a correctional officer for 16 years. Tim then worked for his brother-in-law, Paul Arends, farming near Luverne and later for Eastern Dakota Specialists. Tim married Cindy (Rentschler) Anderson on July 28, 2007 at Colman, SD. He returned to the penitentiary in 2009 where he had continued to work and also worked part-time at Cenex in Flandreau. Tim was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and Stephens Ministries (OSLC). He enjoyed racing, NASCAR, snowmobiling (Artic Cat), hunting, fishing, playing pool, the Minnesota Vikings and spending time with his grandkids.
Tim is survived by his wife, Cindy; five children, Tricia (Rex) Schwartz, Bruce, SD, Tatum (Sarah Thiner) Anderson, Egan, Toby (Blake) Anderson, Sioux Falls, Tyler (Rachel) Anderson, Sioux Falls, April Anderson, Colman; seven grandchildren, Morgan, Regan, Skyler, Kaden, Tanner, Kayla and Darrian, his parents, Clyde and Ginny, Luverne; siblings, Teresa (Paul) Arends, and Jon (Erika) Menning, both of Luverne; parents-in-law, Verlyn and Anna Rentschler, Egan; brothers-in-law, Charles (Sharon) Rentschler, Colman and Clayton (Vicki) Rentschler, Flandreau; sisters-in-law, Crystal (Kevin) Page, Artesian and Cathy (Allen) Loehr, Egan; numerous nieces and nephews and their families, Peyton, Maddie, Mickie, Hailey, Lindsay, Heather, Nikki, Crystal, Kayla, Kelli Jo, Robyn, Jana, Colton, Deven, Tommy, Andrew, Matthew, Brook, A.J. and Scott; special friends Chad (Shantel) Jutz, Detroit Lakes, MN and his dog, Bear. Tim is preceded in death by his grandparents and brother-in-law Craig Rentschler.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Flandreau with burial at Hillside Cemetery, Egan, SD. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM on Friday at Skroch Funeral Chapel with a 7:00 PM prayer service.
