Thomas R. Allen Sr., 77, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at Riverview Health Services in Flandreau, SD. Tom was born January 27, 1936 to Raymond and LaVerne (Redwing) Allen at Flandreau. He attended school in Flandreau, SD. He joined the Marines and served as an engineer in Korea before he was discharged in 1957. Tom moved back to Flandreau and worked as an iron worker where he helped build the largest radio tower in the world at the time in Iowa. He also worked in construction. Tom helped build many buildings in Sioux Falls, and numerous bridges in South Dakota. In 1977 he married Linda One Skunk in Flandreau. He worked for the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe. Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, hunting, keeping busy with his herd of cattle, and loved to drive around. He served as a Trustee on the Tribal Council. He worked for the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe as Land Manager/Ag Director. Tom was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Thomas is survived by his wife Linda Allen, 6 children, Tom Jr. (Lisa) Allen, Colman, SD, Jeanette Allen, Flandreau, Bruce Allen, Flandreau, Charles (Shyleea) Allen, Flandreau, Richard T. Allen, Flandreau, Howard Allen, Flandreau, 2 brothers, Pete (Joyce) Allen, Maple Plain, MN, Sam (Dolores) Allen, Flandreau, 3 sisters, Judy Allen, Flandreau, LaVonna Allen, Flandreau, Cyndi (Jim) Weddell, Flandreau, 14 grandchildren, Zach, Kate, Mike, Mae, Marilyn, David, Julian, Jessica, Cheyenne, Raymond, Emma, Howard Jr., Madelyn, Madeya, 2 great-grandchildren, Cadence, Caleb, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Mark Allen, grandson Marshall Allen, parents Raymond and LaVerne Allen, 5 siblings, Richard P. Allen, Robert Allen, Darlene Bernard, Clifford Allen, and Howard Allen.

Services will be Wednesday February 27, 2013 at 1:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church, Flandreau with burial in the church cemetery.
