Theresa "Terri" Lee Wiskur, 71, of Brookings, SD, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Brookings Health System. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00AM, Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Elkton, SD. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM on Friday, May 17, 2024 also at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.
Terri was born on June 25, 1952 in Tyler, MN, to Harold and Aleen (Bird) McDowell. She grew up and received her education in Elkton attending St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Elkton High School Class of 1971.
On October 21, 1972 she was united in marriage to Roger Wiskur. To this union the couple was blessed with eight children: Paul, Molly, Sara, Mary, Joe, Katie, Sam, and Mike. They raised their family in Elkton.
Terri spent her early years raising the children. After moving into town, she had an in-home daycare for several years before working at Larson's Manufacturing until her retirement.
Her hobbies included crafting, reading, baking, spending time with her grandchildren, and traveling to visit family. She especially enjoyed her annual Labor Day Sisters' Weekend spending time with her sisters, nieces, and granddaughters.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church where she taught CCD for 18 years.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Paul Wiskur, Burnsville, MN, Molly (Chris) Alberts, Elkton, SD, Sara Wiskur, Colman, SD, Mary (Tim) Buss, Crookston, MN, Joe (Quianna) Brown-Wiskur, Pheonix, AZ, Katie Warren (Camden Munson), Elkton, SD, Sam Wiskur, Elkton, SD, and Mike Wiskur, Elkton, SD; grandchildren, Mason, Brady (Meghan), and Carlie (Jonathon) Alberts, Dalton, Trista, and Macy Wiskur, Ashlyn (Michael) and Caden Buss, Annalisa, Lilah, and Kylynn Brown-Wiskur, Daisha, Eian, and Haven Warren, Irving Jumping Eagle, and Emersyn Munson; siblings, Dyann McDowell, Brookings, SD, Janelle (Michael) Fornecker, Kings Mountain, NC, Nyla (Doug) Gregerson, Kings Mountain, NC, Faye (Ron) Aaker, Sioux Falls, SD, June (Dennis) Daberkow, Lakefield, MN, Carol (Russ) Weise, Mitchell, SD, and Sam McDowell, Hooper, NE; sister-in-law Mary Kathy McDowell, Nevada, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Aleen McDowell; husband, Roger Wiskur; brothers, William and Michael McDowell; and son-in-law, Lloyd Warren.
