Theodore C. Schwing, 79, died Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at the Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls. He was born May 28, 1933 at Hendricks, MN to Theodore and Anna (Gramlich) Schwing, Sr. He graduated from Lake Benton High School in 1951 and then attended Mankato State Teachers College. He served in the United States Army from 1957-1959. Ted married Sadonna Lecheler on October 3, 1959 in Winona, MN. He farmed in Drammen Township for many years and also became township assessor in 1960 and served continuously until 2008, serving Drammen, Verdi and Lake Benton Townships. Ted was a member of OLGC, served on the church board and was secretary of St. Mary's Cemetery Corp. He was an accredited Minnesota Ditch Viewer for 21 years and a charter member of the Minnesota Viewers Association, serving as president for 18 years. Ted served on the board of Hope Mutual Fire Insurance Co. and on the Drammen Township Community ASCS Committee. He enjoyed gardening, cross-word puzzles, reading, coin and stamp collecting and letter writing.
Ted is survived by his wife Sadonna; 5 sons, Anthony (Erin), Lake Benton, MN, Mark (Brenda), Carson, ND, John, Sioux Falls, Paul, Brownton, MN, Carl (Julie), Glencoe, MN; 1 daughter Theresa (Chad) Neuberger, Worthington, MN; 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, Sebastian (Beverly), Elkton, 2 brothers-in-law, Larry Lecheler, Sherman, TX, Owen (Connie) Lecheler, Ft. Collins, CO, 3 sisters-in-law, Dolores Wojciechowski, Trempealeau, WI, Catherine Lecheler, Winona, MN, Louise Lecheler, Arcadia, WI.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Monday, October 1, 2012 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Elkton, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00-6:00 pm Sunday with a 6:00 pm prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Elkton.
