Sylvia Eggerud, 89, of Trent, SD passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Riverside Healthcare Community, Flandreau. Sylvia Ann was born May 23, 1928 in Pipestone, MN, the daughter of Ole and Mary Elizabeth (Rasmussen) Eggerud. Sylvia grew up in the Trosky and Jasper communities. Sylvia was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jasper. She attended school in Jasper. Sylvia lived in Trosky with her daughter, Cynthia, before moving to Trent. She stayed in Trent and was a caregiver for her parents. Sylvia enjoyed working in her yard. When the weed eater broke, she would just get a pair of scissors out and trim around everything on her hands and knees. She was not afraid of hard work. She'd be out scooping snow in the winter time, even though her son-in-law David was on his way to do it. Because of declining health, Sylvia moved into Riverview Healthcare Community in January of 2014.

Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (David) Jurgensen, Trent; two grandchildren, Teresa (Mike) Haight, Castle Rock, CO and Scott Jurgensen, Aberdeen; two great grandchildren, Mason and Avery; one brother, Harold Eggerud, Blaine, MN; and a host of nieces and nephews. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings, Barney, Orlin, Curtis, Mildred and Helen.

There will be a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Bethania Cemetery, rural Trent.
