Sylvia C. Alberts, 66, of Flandreau, SD passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022, due to complications from cancer at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD. Sylvia was born October 10, 1956, at Gold Beach, OR to Eldred and Caroline (Spangler) Smith. Her family moved to Elkton, SD the summer of 1957.  She attended grade school and two years of high school at Elkton. They moved to Flandreau, SD and she graduated from Flandreau High School in 1974. Sylvia was a manager at Dakota Industries in Flandreau. She married Gregory Alberts on August 12, 1978, at Flandreau. Sylvia worked at Viking Industries and in 1984 started her own upholstery business.  In 1994 Sylvia began work at Royal River Casino as a cage supervisor. She worked there for 28 years until May of 2022 when she had to retire because of ill health. Sylvia loved her grandchildren, baking, and she did beautiful work beading, and quilting.

Sylvia is survived by her husband Greg; son Tony, Flandreau; grandson Tayson Alberts; granddaughter Neysa Alberts; two brothers, Doug (Tracey) Smith, Lake Campbell, SD; Steve (Georgie) Smith, Sioux Falls; and her sister-in-law Val Smith, Flandreau. Sylvia was preceded by her parents and two brothers, Ron and Terry.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Monday, November 21, 2022, at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, SD
