Sylvan H. Odegard, 90, died Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Good Samaritan Village, Sioux Falls. Sylvan was born July 15, 1920 to Sam and Carrie (Albers) Odegard. He graduated from Colman High School and served in the Army/Air Corps during World War II, completing 35 missions out of England. Sylvan married Awana Dennler on March 14, 1945 in Colman, SD and they farmed until their retirement. His wife preceded him in death on May 18, 1992. Sylvan married Marge Dickey on June 18, 1993. He was a member of Colman Lutheran Church and Colman American Legion.

Sylvan is survived by two daughters, Linda (Gary) Croon, Dell Rapids and Karen (Ken) Bothwell, full-time RV'ers; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ardyce Mayes, Laddonia, MO, Athleen Welch, Mexico, MO and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two brothers, Victor and Kenneth.


Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Colman with burial in the Colman Cemetery. The family will be present one hour prior to the service.
