Steven S. Hasek, 82, died Friday at Riverview Manor, Flandreau. Steven was born February 3, 1926 in Wagner, SD to Adolph and Ella (Crha) Hasek and he attended grade school in Wagner. In 1953 they moved to Egan where he farmed with his father. Steve enlisted in the US Army on November 8, 1945 and was honorably discharged November 9, 1946.Steve married Eda Mae Newhagen on June 17, 1956 in Flandreau. He worked for Ralph Jackson for 16 years, Jim LeBrun for 8 years and Austreim Landscaping for 16 years. He retired in 1996 and continued to make his home in Egan. Steve was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Egan American Legion and Senior Citizens.
Steve is survived by his wife, Eda Mae; a son, Tom Hasek, Egan; a daughter, Jeri (Mike) Kellen, Flandreau; two brothers, Bernard (Judy) Hasek, Tyndall, Harry (Ann) Hasek, Pierre; and a sister, Helen Johanson, Colman. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Richard Johanson.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Flandreau, with burial at Hillside Cemetery, Egan. Visitation will begin at 2pm Tuesday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau with a 7pm prayer service.
