Steven John Evans, 39, of Sioux Falls, passed away Friday, October 7, 2016 at Avera Dougherty Hospice House following a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Steven was born on January 4, 1977 in Flandreau, SD to John and Florence (Meier) Evans. He graduated from Flandreau High School in 1995 and from the University of St. Thomas in 1999. Steve worked at several jobs in Sioux Falls, the last of which was as an information technologist for Avera Health. He was an avid bike rider. Steve loved to ride to work, as well as around the bike path. Steve married Heather Caron in Sioux Falls on November 12, 2011. They had two children, Olivia, 3 and Niall, 1. Steve also spent time in Mexico where he became fluent in Spanish and in Ireland, where he worked for Compaq Computers. Because of his Spanish background, he worked part-time as an interpreter in Sioux Falls.


In addition to his wife and children, Steve is survived by his parents John and Florence, Flandreau; sisters, Karen (Jim) Harney, Eden Prairie, MN; Kathy Dorsey, Mableton, GA; and Annie (Mike) Terveen, Sioux Falls; five nieces, Elizabeth and Annika Harney, Nyah and Symone Dorsey, Lucy Terveen and two nephews, Tyson and Jack Terveen.
