Steve K. Nelson, 55, died Monday at his home in Flandreau. Steve was born on March 4, 1954 at Two Harbors, MN to Mickey and Bette (Johnson) Nelson. They moved to Pipestone, MN and then in 1960 to Flandreau where he received his education. Steve moved to California and worked until returning to Flandreau. He was married on October 16, 1976 at Flandreau to Cindy Allen. He worked many years doing heavy construction until going to work for Royal River Casino. Steve was currently working at First American Mart.

Steve is survived by 3 children: Steve (Rosalie) Nelson, Brock (Leslie) Nelson, Desiree Nelson all of Flandreau; 5 grandchildren: Morgan, Destiny, Kiona, Trista, and Laban; his mother: Bette (Walter) Bach, Flandreau and father, Mickey (Donna) Nelson, Grand Junction, CO; siblings: Gary (Susan), Grand Marias, MN; Kevin, Flandreau; Jeff, Pipestone; Gregg, Flandreau and Toni Taylor, Colman; a half-sister, Shelley Moore, Grand Junction. He was preceded in death by a sister Robin.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Skroch Funeral Chapel with burial at First Presbyterian Cemetery, Flandreau. Visitation begins Friday at 3:00 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service all at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
