Sondy L. Kranz, 69, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, from a brief illness with her family by her side. She was born December 9, 1944 in Watertown, SD to Henry and Rose (Randolph) Henricks. She grew up in Waverly, SD and graduated from Waverly High School in 1963. After high school, she was an x-ray technician and then worked in the seed lab at SDSU in Brookings. Sondy then worked at 3M for 30+ years, where she was one of the first women on the production floor, until her retirement in 2011. Sondy had a fighting spirit that showed through when she survived breast cancer in 1992 and then again in 2009. Sondy's loves in life were her children, grandchildren, horses and her Old McDonald's Farm. She had so many animals her house was affectionately known as the petting zoo! She was an avid barrel racer and a District Director of the NBHA for six years.

Sondy is survived by her children: Lori (Danny) Brown, Elkton, SD, Kirk (Susan) Kranz, Brookings, SD, Dana (Dawn) Kranz, Tea, SD, six grandchildren, Aidan Kranz, Avery Kranz, Ben Hammer, Brittney (Tigh) Faehnrich, Brianna Hammer, Kim (Shean) Lauing, four great-grandchildren, Hank Faehnrich, Charlie Faehnrich, Wyatt Lauing, Colter Lauing and her brother Lyle (Bev) Henricks, Waverly, SD. Sondy was preceded in death by her parents and sister Cherry Henricks.

A celebration of Sondy's life will be Monday, July 7, 2014, 1:00 pm at United Parish of Elkton with visitation one hour prior to the service.
