Simon M. Hofer, 62, Pleasant Valley Colony, Flandreau, SD, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD. Simon was born on November 11, 1959 to Michael and Rebecca Hofer at Bigstone Colony. In July of 1977 he moved with his family to Pleasant Valley Colony. On July 22, 1984, Simon married his love Susan Wipf of Fairview Colony, with whom he shared 38 memorable years. He worked in the hog barns for 10 years and then as turkey manager for 24 years. Dad received a kidney transplant the summer of 2014. Due to all his health issues, he had to retire in 2020. Through all his health trials, our dear mom, Susan, cared for him with love, patience, and many prayers. After his retirement, no matter where Dad was needed, he was a hard worker. Dad was a perfectionist, be it mowing lawns, sweeping leaves, picking parts, and small jobs for the ladies. He will surely be missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan (Wipf) Hofer ; his children: Jonathan (Lisa), Pleasant Valley, Joni, Lydia, Karter, Jonah, Kady , Michelle (Samuel), Cameron Colony, Simon, Nolan , Lucas (Marissa), Pleasant Valley , Talia, Micaiah, Macy, Adam , Daniel (Elizabeth), Pleasant Valley , Suzanne, Oakley, Ava , brothers and sisters: Shirley (George) Waldner, Spring Prairie, Hilda (Edward) Tschetter, Pleasant Valley, * Harold (Lena) Hofer, Pleasant Valley , Paulina (John) Waldner, Hutterville, Tim (Susan) Hofer, Custer, WA,* Mike (Debbie) Hofer, Fargo, ND, Willie (Kristi) Hofer, Fargo, ND, Maryann (Johnny) Stahl, Platte Colony, Helen (Tom) Waldner, Huttervile, Leah (Rev. Zack) Tschetter, Pleasant Valley , George (Naomi) Hofer, Pleasant Valley, mother-in-law: Susanna (Wollman) Wipf , and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. He is preceded in death by: parents: Michael & Rebecca sister: Rebecca; brothers: Harold, Michael, Daniel , father-in-law: Jonathan Wipf Sr. brother-in-law: Jonathan Wipf Jr.

Services will be 2:00 pm Friday, November 11, 2022 at Pleasant Valley Colony with burial at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm Thursday at the Colony.
