Sidney M. Lenning, 72, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the Avera Heart Hospital, Sioux Falls, He was born February 23, 1938 in Estelline, SD to Morris and Evangeline (Erickson) Lenning. He attended school in Bruce, Arlington and Estelline. Sid married Diane Warborg in Arizona February 23, 1961. They lived the last 24 years in Egan and Flandreau. Sid had many jobs throughout his life but most recent was driving bus for Flandreau Public Schools. He truly enjoyed each and every student; kids were so important to him. Sid will be missed everyday for his sense of humor, love of sports, spirited debates on politics and everyday "advice" for friends and family.
Sid is survived by his wife, Diane; seven daughters, Pam (John) Bennett, Yucaipa, CA, Michelle (Jeff) Swenson, Dilworth, MN, Melissa (Matt) Lacey, Flandreau, Kelly (Tim) Ullom, Flandreau, Korie (Marvin-SFC US Army) Smith, Alaska/Japan, Heather (Mike) Ketcham, Flandreau, Heide (Cameron) Collier, SFC US Army; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry (Marlys) Lenning, Watertown, SD; two sisters, Judy Jonker, Brookings, SD, Linda (Val) Draper, Watertown, SD and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Faron, daughter, Melette and his parents.


Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Saturday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
