Scott Joel Pedersen was born July 6, 1954 in Storm Lake, IA to Ernst & Marian (Halstenson) Pedersen. As a child they moved to Trent, SD and he graduated from Flandreau High School in 1972. After high school he attended Vo-tech school in Pipestone, MN. Scott married the love of his life, Pat Skroch, on August 18, 1973. They spent the next 43 years making memories, raising three children, and spoiling nine grandchildren. They were a team. Scott was a banker for 19 years in Carthage and Howard, SD. Scott has been a salesman since 1992. In 1999, Scott teamed up with Butch Parks and became the sales manager for Parks Marina in Sioux Falls. Over the past 17 years, he truly enjoyed what he did. He loved connecting with his customers and making new friendships. He would say selling boats was selling lifetime memories. Scott was also a Miner County Commissioner and was currently serving on the Lake County Commission since 2008. He was level headed and enjoyed common sense politics which was what he always brought to the table. Scott enjoyed living the lake life, and spending time with family and friends. He loved the saying, "Family isn't an important thing, it is EVERYTHING." He showed his family and friends great love every day. He would go out of his way for anybody. His heart was with his eight grandsons and one granddaughter. If they needed something, they knew they just had to ask Pa. Pa would come through for them, he always did, and in so many ways. He was a mentor to many, using his own struggles and downfalls in life to help others with theirs. To him, everyday was a new day to make a difference and he always strived to improve himself. Scott began his new journey in heaven on August 7, 2016. He was 62 years young.


Incredibly blessed to have shared in his life: his wife, Pat; one son, Steven (Abby) Pedersen of Madison; two daughters, Erin (Kevin) Feldhaus of Howard and Jamie (Brandon) Hodne of Madison; nine grandchildren, Aidyn, Isaac, Karsyn, Jordan, Trent, Teegan, Jayna, Krayton and Beckham; his mother, Marian Pedersen of Madison, SD; his brother, Brian (Diane) Pedersen of Iroquois, SD; uncle and aunt, Art & Charmaine Pedersen of Inwood, IA; aunt, Marliss Fiscella of Green Valley, AZ; as well as numerous other in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends. Scott was preceded in death by his father Ernst Pedersen, and brothers-in-law, Peter Ecker and Thomas Allaire.


Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Madison, SD, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service.
