Russell Wayne Stansbury, aged 69, of Flandreau, South Dakota journeyed to the Spirit World peacefully on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at his home. Russell was born on September 30, 1952, to Leonard and Vivian (Williams) Stansbury.

In 1975, Russell met his future wife and lifelong partner, Debra Wakeman. They lived in Sioux Falls, SD the majority of their lives, where Russell worked at Jordan Millwork, John Morrells and Metz Baking. He later moved to Flandreau where he worked at Royal River Casino and Hotel. Later, he and Debra moved to Reno, NV where he worked at the Grand Sierra Resort before retiring and returning to Flandreau.

Russell was an avid Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed staying close to home, mowing the lawn, and taking life easy. During the past several years, he and Deb enjoyed traveling in their RV and spending time with close family and friends.

Russell is survived by his lifelong partner, Debra Wakeman, of Flandreau; his stepson Anthony Flammond, two brothers Rick and Leonard Stansbury; his sister Tina, his beloved dog Jayne as well as many nieces and nephews.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Vivian (Williams) Stansbury, and brothers Dennis Stansbury and David Williams.

A prayer service will be held at 4:30 pm Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Hunkake Café (102 E 2 ^nd St., Flandreau, SD 57028); followed by a memorial dinner at 5:00 pm.
