Royal C. Grindeland Jr, 65, of Colman, SD, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Avera Flandreau Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Trent Baptist Church in Trent, SD. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau, SD.

Royal Grindeland Jr. was born in Sioux Falls, SD to Ilsa and Royal Grindeland Sr. He graduated from Brookings High School and attended Mitchell Technical School. After graduation, he spent some time in Colorado and Washington before moving back home to be closer to family. He worked with his dad at the Brookings hospital for three years before beginning his 32-year career as an electrician. He was able to enjoy retirement for a couple years and never once got bored.

Royal spent much of his life helping out anyone who needed a hand. He went on four mission trips to Alaska. He loved cooking, watching his son play hockey, and traveling with his daughter. He recently discovered his love of ice fishing with his two best buddies, Howard and Skeeter. What he loved the most was spending every day with his family and his pets. He loved his children and his mother more than anything.

Royal is survived by his mother, Ilsa; his children, Royal III and Gabrielle; his sister Cindy and her husband Brian; his sister Becky and her husband Keith; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Royal is preceded in death by his father, Royal Grindeland Sr.
