Roy "Corky" Corcoran, 77, of Flandreau, SD passed away Monday, August 8, 2016 at the Sioux Falls VA Medical Center. LeRoy Robert Corcoran was born October 10, 1938 in Flandreau, SD to Raymond and Isabell (Hirzel) Corcoran. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1957. He worked at the Volga Creamery where they produced powdered milk. Later he transferred to Sioux Falls. Roy owned and operated a semi-truck for many years. While serving his country in the U.S. Army, he married Virginia Heeren. Richard, Ronald and Shelly were born to this union. Later they moved to Spearfish where Roy worked at the Homestake Gold Mine for many years. He returned to Flandreau where he owned and operated a truck for many years. Roy married Jackie Cranston. He owned Corky's Lodge Cabin Bar in Sioux Falls for many years. After selling the bar, Roy returned to Flandreau and operated a trucking business and bought a herd of Hereford cattle.
Roy is survived by his daughter Shelly (Chuck) Taylor, Belle Fourche; two sons, Richard (Jean) Corcoran, Rapid City and Ronald Corcoran, Spearfish; three stepdaughters, Stacie, Shawn and Monique; four grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, his mother Isabell, nine siblings, Michael (Deanna), Betty Martens, Thomas (Donna), Pat Kanz, Jan (Herman) Bos, Bonnie (Robert) O'Brien, Dennis (Heather), Greg (Laurie), and Raynard, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, with burial in Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday until service time.
