Rosemary L. Gill, 90, of Flandreau, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022 at United Living Community, Brookings SD.  Rosemary Louise Bauer was born May 22, 1931 to Henry and Cora (Athey) Bauer.  She grew up on a farm, attended country schools and then graduated from Egan High School in 1949.   She attended General Beadle College in Madison, SD earning her teaching degree in 1951.   She also spent a summer attending school in Greeley, Colorado.  Rosemary taught school in Madison, MN, Pipestone, MN and DeSmet, SD.  On June 18, 1957, Rosemary married Robert Gill in Flandreau and they had two sons.  Rosemary worked as a teacher and teacher's aide in Flandreau Public Schools for 19 years, retiring in 1988.   She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and traveling to visit her children and grandchildren.  She was an active member of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Altar Society and Catholic Daughters and she volunteered at Riverview Manor and the Moody County Breadbasket.  Rosemary was a member of several clubs and coffee groups over the years, always enjoying those social activities with good friends.   She will be remembered for her love for her dogs.

Rosemary is survived by her sons, Steven (Ann) and Jim (Linda); four granddaughters, Chelsea, Natalie, Kristen and Lindsay; and 4 great grandchildren, Jalyssa, Madisyn, Sterling and Jackson; her brother John (Char) Bauer, sister-in-law Jane Beaner and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob (December 13, 2012) and her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Friday, January 28, 2022 at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Flandreau, SD, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm with a 5:30 pm scripture service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
