Rose A. Holvig, 101, of Flandreau, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at Riverview Health Community, Flandreau. Rose was born May 31, 1915 in Moody County, SD, to Joseph and Katherine (Haase) Doyle. She received her education in Bell Country School. Rose worked as a housekeeper for many years. Rose married Lloyd Holvig December 12, 1940 in Sibley, IA. Her husband preceded her in death November 2, 1969. Rose managed King Koin Laundromat in Flandreau for several years. She moved to Rapid City in 1975 and returned to Flandreau in 1989. She became a resident at Riverview Manor in 2008. Rose was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church.


Rose is survived by her son Roger (Linda), Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one brother Kenneth Doyle, Flandreau; two sisters, Lorraine (Harry) Reaves, Flandreau; Madonna (Edward) Rieder, Sioux Falls; sister-in-law Maxine "Boots" Doyle, Flandreau; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and four brothers, Donald, Ervin, Harold and Lawrence.
