Ronald F. Jorgensen, 84, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Riverview Health Community, Flandreau, SD. Ron was born December 7, 1930 in Turner County, SD to Andrew and Frances (Sweeley) Jorgensen. He went to country school through the eighth grade and then farmed with his brother. Ron was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War and attained the rank of corporal and was stationed in Germany. He returned home and farmed near Burbank, SD. Ron married Mary Lawrence on August 8, 1964 in Sioux Falls, SD. They lived in the Elk Point, SD area and then moved to a farm near Ward, SD in 1968. Ron worked at 3M in Brookings, SD from 1973 until his retirement in 1988. He continued to hobby farm until 2000. Ron was a member of the United Methodist Church and he taught himself to play the accordion when he was in his 60's. He played for his family and area assisted living facilities and nursing homes.

Ron is survived by his wife Mary, five children, Fern (Ed) Boll, Ward, Tom (Cyndi), Ward, Audrey (Ron) Misiura, Princeton, MN, Allan (Zülbiye), Byron, MN, Jannelle Jorgensen, Pipestone, MN, 19 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, sister Elizabeth Fiedler, Yankton, and two brothers, Warren, Elk Point, SD and Lowell, Burbank, SD. Ron was preceded in death by an infant son, a great-grandson, his parents, and three brothers, Dale, Jerry, and Marc.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, August 20, 2015 at the United Methodist Church, Flandreau, with burial in Dell Rapids Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 – 7 pm with a 7 pm prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
