Ronald "Burr" Green, Died Monday, June 15, 2009 at Avera McKenna Hospital in Sioux Falls. Ronald the son of Arthur and Dorothy (Thill) Green was born February 23, 1940 in Sioux Falls. They moved to Flandreau in 1950 and he attended Vance Country School, graduating from Flandreau High School in 1959. He joined the National Guard with the 147th Field Artillery in Flandreau and was called to active duty for the Berlin Crisis. Ron was married May 23, 1964 at Flandreau to Jean Engelbrecht. Ron worked for Albert Moore Construction and PV Elevator until 1974 when he went to work as custodian at Spafford Elementary School until retiring in 2002. Ron was a member of Flandreau United Methodist Church, Flandreau American Legion, enjoyed hunting, the casino and riding his scooter.

Ron is survived by his wife, Jean, Flandreau; a son, Brian (Beverly) Green, Treynor, IA; a daughter, Bridget Green, Sioux Falls; 3 grandchildren: Brandon, Elizabeth and Allison; his mother, Dorothy, Flandreau; a sister, Edith (Ray) Hansen, Manitou Springs, CO and a brother, Leonard "Windy" (Elaine) Green, Plant City, FL. He was preceded in death by his father, Art; an infant brother, James and an infant sister, Patricia.

Services will be 10:30 am Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the United Methodist Church, Flandreau with burial at Union Cemetery. Visitation will begin 2:00 pm Wednesday with the family present from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service all at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
