Obituary

Roger Wiskur, 67, died Friday, July 31, 2009 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls. Roger was born May 25, 1942 in Hendricks, MN to Joseph and Louise (Mueller) Wiskur. He attended country school District 64 and Elkton High School. Roger started farming with his father and was married on October 21, 1972 in Elkton to Theresa McDowell. He milked cows from 1957 until 2003, but continued to raise crops and cattle. He was awarded Quality Milk Producer in 1988-1989 by Land O' Lakes. Roger was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Elkton. He loved Holstein cattle, all newborn animals, International farm equipment, visiting with anyone who would listen, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He collected farm caps, enjoyed reading farm literature and attended any kind of auction.

Roger is survived by his wife, Terri; eight children: Paul Wiskur, Minneapolis, Molly (Chris) Alberts, Elkton, Sara (Tim) Hemmer, Flandreau, Mary (Tim) Buss, Crookston, MN, Joe Wiskur, Brookings, Katie (Lloyd) Warren, Elkton, Sam Wiskur and Mike Wiskur, Elkton; 10 grandchildren: Mason, Brady, Carlie, Dalton, Trista, Ashlyn, Caden, Daisha, Eian, and Haven; seven siblings: Leroy Wiskur, Elkton, Gayle (Jim) McKenna, Studio City, CA, Lois Wiskur, Pierre, Judy (Mike) Kampmann, John Wiskur, Janice (Mark) Cronin and David (Connie) Wiskur, all of Elkton; his godmother, Fern McKeown, Brookings, and farming buddies, Logan and Caleb Wiskur, Elkton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, DeWayne.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Elkton, with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation begins at 4:00 pm Monday with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Elkton.
