Rodney B. Timmerman, 87, of Colman, SD passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD. A memorial visitation will take place from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Colman, SD.
Rodney was born on November 8, 1938 to Anthony and Leona (Coyle) Timmerman in Garvin, MN. He grew up on a farm between Slayton and Lake Shetek and received his education in Tracy, MN. Rodney’s father passed away at the age of three. His mother remarried to Oscar Hobert who raised him and he developed a close bond with.
Rodney was united in marriage to Harriet Smith on October 3, 1958 in Tracy, MN. To this union, the couple were blessed four children, Roger, Ricky, David, and Kathy.
Rodney farmed for a time before beginning his career as a truck driver and was employed at T&R Electric from 1977 until his retirement in 2001.
In 1983 he moved to Colman, SD. where he resided until his death.
He was a member of Tracy United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed western films and watching the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins while enjoying a Bud Light.
Grateful for having shared his life are his children, David Timmerman and his wife, Barbara of Sioux Falls, SD, and Kathy Benson and her significant other, Mike Rose of Tracy, MN; sister, Arlys Ash, San Jose, CA; grandchildren, Tara Schraeder and her husband, Chase, and Tyler Timmerman all of Sioux Falls, SD; great-granddaughters, Alivyah Schraeder and Paityn Timmerman both of Sioux Falls, SD; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Harriet, infant son, Ricky Timmerman, son, Roger Timmerman, sister, Majorie Clarke, and brother-in-law, Ross Clarke.
