Obituary

Robert Dwain Platts, 83, formerly of Egan passed away at the Mountain View Health Care in Mountain View, Missouri, Thursday, May 22, 2008.

Robert was born on a farm near Egan, SD to Albert Warren and Bertha Viola (Wilson) Platts on August 2, 1924. He graduated from Egan High School in 1943. He moved to Sioux Falls, SD where he met and married Colleen Rasmussen in 1953. In 1953 he and Colleen moved to Grand Junction, Colorado where he worked as parts manager for Moare Equipment Company and United Construction Company until he retired in 1999. Colleen passed away in December 1996. On June 5, 1999 he married Lillian Ilene Honeycutt Young Hunt in Grand Junction, CO. They made their home together there until July 2004 when they moved to Summersville, MO. He retired at the age of 75. He and Ilene enjoyed traveling, eating out, and playing cards with their friends. He also enjoyed caring for his beautiful roses. He was kind and loved by everyone who knew him. He had no children of his own, but he loved children and every child he met loved him. Bob was a member of the American Lutheran Church of Grand Junction, Colorado, and faithfully attended until coming to Missouri, where he attended the First Baptist Church of Summersville. He was also a life member of the Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife Ilene; two sisters, Hazel Jackson, and Dorothy Pletcher of Jackson, MN; four stepchildren, Daryl and Carolyn Young of Mountain Home, AR, Steve Young of Kansas City, MO, Connie Harmon and Mike Harris of Rayville, MO, Vicki and Jake Warren of Grand Junction, CO; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife Colleen; parents, Albert and Bertha Platts; four
sisters, Emma Kasdorf, Mildred Hale, Ruth Anderson, and Marjorie Kolrush; two brothers, Albert and Donald Platts; six brothers-in-laws; one sister-in-law and two step-children, Gary Young and Linda Dewitt.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 PM at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau with burial at Hillside Cemetery, Egan, SD. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
