Obituary

Robert M. Jewett, 83, passed away March 15, 2020 unexpectedly in Gallatin, TN at the Sumner County Medical Facility. Robert Marshall Jewett, son of Marshall W. and Lovell G. (Schult) Jewett, was born October 26, 1936 on a rural farm north of Flandreau, SD.  He received his primary education at Dexter #14 Country School and graduated from Flandreau High School in 1954.  He attended college in Brookings, SD before moving to the Los Angeles area in California. Bob was employed at Bekins Van Lines for many years and eventually opened an Allied Moving and Warehouse franchise in the Los Angeles area. Bob later retired to Hawaii and lived there for several years before moving to Reno, NV for 3 years.  He then moved to Portland, TN where he resided for the past 15 years.

Bob, who was a widower, was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall (1989), Lovell (1999), a sister Janet Jewett Keck in 1967, a brother Thomas (Tom) in 2009 who lived in Casper WY, a brother James (Jim) in 2014 who lived in Tea SD, a sister-in-law Marianne (Duncan) Jewett who lived in Irvine, CA. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Etta (Bolte) Schult of Flandreau, Roy and Jennie (Travis) Jewett of Flandreau.

Bob is survived by two brothers,  Roger (and Patti) Jewett of Reno, NV, Randall "Randy" of Irvine, CA and his sister Marci (Jewett) Duncan of  Savage MN. Other survivors include numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins across the country and two sisters-in-law June (Bergh) Jewett, Casper WY and Diane (Houska) Jewett. Tea, SD.

Bob had requested that the family conduct no funeral services. Interment will be held privately for the family at Union Cemetery, Flandreau.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Presbyterian Church, Flandreau.
