Robert Brown Henry Jr., 77, of Flandreau, SD died peacefully in his sleep of natural causes on October 14, 2022. He was born on September 22, 1945, in Fort Walton, Florida to Dr. Robert and Cleone (Deeren) Henry. RB or Bob, as many knew him,  grew up in Brookings, SD graduating from Brookings High School in 1963. With a double major in art and English, he graduated from Augustana College in 1967. He furthered his art education at The University of Oregon in Eugene, receiving an MFA in 1970.

Early in life, RB enjoyed summers at the family cabin on Lake Poinsett. He was an avid skier both water and downhill. RB enjoyed living his last 40+ years on his Sioux River acreage, The Gemstone Ranch, near Flandreau, SD. He spent his lifetime admiring and collecting rocks and gemstones, and he shared this passion with his siblings.

RB is survived by his siblings: Tom (Sandy) Henry, Sioux Falls; Barbara Henry, Sioux Falls; and Patsy (Steve Gratzfeld) Butler-Gratzfeld, Sioux Falls; his nephew and nieces: Brooks Butler, Woodstock, GA; Brittany (Matt James) Henry-James, Rapid City; great niece, Emmery James, Rapid City; and Kelsey (Kyle Kirschten) Butler, Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Bob and Cleone Henry, and his brother-in-law, Mack Butler. Services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at the Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau, SD. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM and a memorial service will begin at 2:00 PM. There will be a reception at JJ's Coffee Spot in Flandreau from 3:00 - 5:00 pm following the memorial service.
