Robert “Harry” Reaves, 95, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026 at Brookings Health System. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Second Presbyterian Church in Flandreau, SD. Visitation with the family present will take place from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a 7:00 PM prayer service, at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau, SD.
Harry was born September 14, 1930, in Huron, SD, one of six children to Henry and Adah (Eakins) Reaves. He attended Moore Country School and Colman High School, where he graduated in 1948. He married Lorraine Doyle on August 21, 1951, at Colman, SD. They raised their family and farmed seven miles north of Colman. They moved off the farm to Flandreau in 2006. They wintered for 22 years in Arizona. Harry was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church and served as an elder and trustee. Harry was a member of the Colman School Board and was on the board of the Big Sioux Water System. He was a lifelong farmer at heart and a caregiver for many members of his family.
Harry is survived by seven children: David (Donna), Lynd, MN; Leo (Julie), Brandt Lake, SD; Eugene (Cheryl), Valley Springs, SD; Beverly (Ted) Lacey, Trent, SD; Betty (John) Fiegen, Dell Rapids, SD; Bonnie (Rick) Salonen, Brookings, SD; Peggy (Scott) Keller, Renner, SD; 25 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Harry was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine; grandson Travis Reaves; great-grandson Corban Lacey; his parents; two sisters, Florence and Fae; three brothers, Harold and John, and an infant brother, Earl.
