Obituary

Robert H. Drewes, 79, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the United Living Community, Brookings. Robert was born August 11, 1934 at Flandreau, SD to Henry and Gretchen (Meyer) Drewes. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Flandreau. Bob attended District #42 Tidd Grade School and graduated from Egan High School in 1952. He served in the US Army from April 1957 to April 1959 and was stationed most of that time in Ft. Lewis, WA where he was a radio mechanic. Bob married Marlys Eidsness on August 30, 1958 in Flandreau and they lived in Olympia, WA until his discharge from the service. They returned to Flandreau and he farmed northwest of town until retiring into Flandreau in January 1997. Bob was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where he was an usher for several years, was on the building committee, served on the council and was a former member of Clare Lutheran Church. He was one of the organizers of the Moody County Pork Producers. Bob enjoyed camping and was the Webmaster for the GMC Midwest Classics Motorhome Club.

He is survived by his wife, Marlys, a sister Helen Madsen, Sioux Falls, a close cousin, Leanne Tamman, Sioux Falls and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded by his parents and four sisters, Viola, Alice, Gertie and Dorothy.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Flandreau with visitation Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Skroch Funeral Chapel. Memorials to a charity of your choice. www.skrochfc.com
