Richard Moe, 88, died Friday, June 3, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center, DeSmet. He was born on February 18, 1923 at Colman to Ole and Laura (Johnson) Moe. He received his education at Molksness Country School and graduated from Colman High in 1940. Richard married Carmel Flood on January 7, 1948 at Colman and they farmed near Colman. He worked for his brother Olney at Colman Fertilizer Company and at T & R Electric until retiring in 1988. He lived his whole life on the family homestead until moving to DeSmet in 2007. He became a resident of Good Samaritan Center on May 3, 2011. Richard was a member of Colman Lutheran Church, where he held many offices including president, sang in the church choir, member of Sons of Norway and served on the Board of Directors of Bethel Lutheran Home. He enjoyed sports, especially the Twins and Vikings and following his grandchildren and great- grandchildren in sports.

Richard is survived by his wife, Carmel; daughter, Connie (Dennis) Kruse, DeSmet; son-in-law, Dennis Petersen, Big Stone City, SD; 5 grandsons, Dan (Courtney) Kruse and their daughter, Keyra, Ross (Melissa) Kruse, Jay (Fiance, Nicole) Kruse, Chris (Josie) Petersen and daughter Ela and son, Nolan, Greg (Jessie) Petersen and daughter, Claire; sister, Delores Peterson, Seattle and sister-in-law, Wilma Moe. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pam, his parents, 5 brothers, Lloyd, Herbert, Robert, Reginald and Olney and 3 sisters, Arnola, Ellen and Lillian.

Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Colman Lutheran Church with burial in Colman Luthran Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00-7:00 pm Monday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Colman.
