Raymond "Ray" P. May, 64 of Colman died Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Sanford Medical Center, Sioux Falls.
Raymond was born on June 14, 1943 at Madison, SD to John and Dorothy (Voelkert) May. He attended Troup and Allen Country Schools and graduated from Colman High School in 1961. Ray worked at various jobs and then started working at Sioux Valley Electric on September 20, 1965. He married Janet Hammer on October 23, 1965 at Flandreau. Ray retired from Sioux Valley Energy on April 1, 2008 as Lead Lineman. Over the years, Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing old timers softball, coffee time, and taking his grandkids to RJ's. He was a member of Colman Lutheran Church, former church board member, 4-H leader, and softball coach.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; his children:Russell (Bardine) May, Colman; Chuck (Ronda) May, Aurora; Sherri (Robert) Wolles, Dell Rapids; grandchildren: Justin, Nick, Krista, Morgan, Austin, Cameron, Daniel, Connor, Courtney, Jacob his siblings: Robert (Barb) May, Colman; Martin (Brenda) May, Trent; Dick (Sharlene) May, Allen, SD Ruth Brende, Cambridge, MN; Kathy (Danny) Brenden, Vienna, SD; special parents,Vi and Ole Wangberg, Tucson, AZ, sister-in-law, Joan Wangberg, Colman and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Jim and Kenny and a brother-in-law, Jim Brende.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Colman Lutheran Church with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Egan. Visitation will begin at 5 PM on Wednesday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Colman with a 7 PM Scripture Service.
