Obituary

Randell A. Keating, 92, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at the Dells Nursing & Rehab Center, Dell Rapids. Randy was born July 2, 1922 in Flandreau, SD to Harold and Leah (Waxdahl) Keating. He graduated from Flandreau High School in 1940 and then farmed with his father. Randy married Mary Fath on February 5, 1948 in Flandreau. They continued to farm southeast of Flandreau. His wife preceded him in death on June 29, 1998. Randy was a member of Second Presbyterian Church where he was an elder, deacon and trustee. He was also a member of the Flandreau Masonic Lodge #11AF & AM, Kiwanis, chairman of the 4-H parade for several years, Promise Keepers, Gideons, and the local weed board. Randy enjoyed fishing, boating, fireworks, a good practical joke and teaching people to water ski.

Randy is survived by three children, Kathleen Sullivan, Stuart (Gail), both of Flandreau, Julie (Dave) Wegener, Madison, SD, five grandchildren, Quentin, Leah, Sarah, April and Sandra, seven great-grandchildren, Aaden, Evan, Austin and Faith Ehrichs, Dante, Arianna and Celeste Meyer, sister Louise Stuedeman, Flandreau, brother Harvey, Salt Lake City, special family friend Carter Wiese and foreign exchange student Thomas Ruppel. Randy was preceded by his wife and parents.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Second Presbyterian Church with burial in Union Cemetery. Visitation is from 2:00 – 5:00 pm Sunday with a 5:00 pm Masonic Service at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
