Rachel L. Conkling, 94, of Flandreau, SD, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Avera Heart Hospital of SD, Sioux Falls. Rachel was born September 3, 1925 in Madison, SD to A.F. and Clara M. (Hueners) Tanck. She grew up in Flandreau, graduating from Flandreau High School in 1942. In 1946 Rachel graduated as a Registered Nurse from Sioux Valley School of Nursing in Sioux Falls. She married Ron Conkling October 1, 1960 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Flandreau. Rachel worked at the Flandreau Municipal Hospital from 1946 – 1951 and then the Flandreau Medical Clinic from 1951 – December 28, 1988 when she retired. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Rachel thoroughly enjoyed her nursing career and working on the family tree.

Rachel is survived by her husband Ron; brother Charles (Betty) Tanck, Sioux Falls; sister-in-law Mary Tanck, Kansas City, MO; two brothers-in-law, Dan Conkling and John Conkling, both of Yankton, SD; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, brother John and mother-in-law Marian Putnam.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Flandreau with burial at Hills of Rest Cemetery, Sioux Falls. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Friday with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
