Phyllis Jean Bauer, 90, of Flandreau, SD passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Riverview Healthcare Center, Flandreau. Phyllis was born on June 26, 1931, on a farm one mile south of Ward, SD to Frank and Rebecca (Petschow) Lange. She was baptized on July 19, 1931, and confirmed on July 15, 1945, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ward. Phyllis attended Flandreau Public High School. She was married to Harold Bauer on February 26, 1949, in Trosky, MN. They moved into Flandreau in 1989 after retiring from farming with Harold for 41 years. Phyllis worked at the Flandreau Bakery for 20 years. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church for over 50 years and was currently a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Flandreau.

Phyllis is survived by 8 children, Steve (Jody), Brookings, SD; Bruce (Marci), Flandreau; Deb (Rick) Johnson, Flandreau; Renae Scofield, Custer, SD; Tammie (David) Kneebone, Flandreau; Tim, Spearfish, SD; Julie (Bob) Duerfeldt, Gregory, SD; Mindy (Dennis) Faber, Sioux Falls; 24 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Lavon Culhane, Sioux Falls and Faye Long, Brookings. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Harold; daughters, Cheryl Bauer and Grace Albers; granddaughter Heidi Albers; great-granddaughter Tori Pulscher;  step-great-grandson Nash Hahn; son-in-law Steve Scofield; her parents, sister Ruth Langner and brother Louis Lange.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday, June 6, 2022, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Flandreau, with burial in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Ward. Visitation will be 2:00 – 4:00 pm Sunday with a 4:00 pm prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
