Peggy L. Smith, age 87, died Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Riverview Health Services, Flandreau. Peggy was born January 2, 1925 at Clacton, England to Basil and Hilda (Clark) Ratcliffe. She grew up in England and in 1956 moved to Vancouver, British Columbia. Peggy returned to England in 1966 and later married Gordon Smith. Gordon preceded her in death. She moved to South Dakota in 1986. Peggy was a homemaker for most of her life providing a place for her family. Peggy loved to read, knit, take walks, listening to classical music and spending time with her family.

Peggy is survived by her son-in-law, Danny (Cathe) Thomas, Flandreau; 5 grandchildren, Danny Thomas, Brookings, Abby Thomas, Swan, IA, Billy (Sheena) Thomas, Sioux Falls, Kristy (Joey) Peterson, Brookings, Karly Thomas, Brookings and 2 great-grandchildren, Paige and Parker. Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Smith; daughter, Penny Thomas; son, Howard and her parents.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Wednesday at the chapel.
