Paul B. Rosheim, 81, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Riverview Health Services, Flandreau. He was born December 1, 1932 at Flandreau, SD to Oscar and Janette (Gould) Rosheim. He graduated from Flandreau High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from February 28, 1951 until his discharge on February 21, 1955. Paul attended Augustana College before moving to Minneapolis in 1963. He received a BA in 1966 and his MA in 1969 in classical languages both from the University of Minnesota. Paul supported himself while attending the U of M with various jobs. He became interested in cooking while working at Jax Café and The Golden Valley Country Club. Paul married Maryll Archer on March 21, 1970 in Dell Rapids, SD. He and his wife purchased the Corner Cafe in Flandreau in 1982 and operated the business until 2012. Paul was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church and also Kelley-Porter American Legion Post #70. Besides his love of cooking, Paul loved to travel, read non-fiction or The Bible, listen to classical music, and attend plays and movies.
Paul is survived by his wife Maryll, son Elliot of Minneapolis, two sisters, Beverly Solsaa and Karen (Jim) Lang of Flandreau, and nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded by his parents, two brothers, Philip and Barton, sister-in-law Mary Rosheim and brother-in-law Harold Solsaa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church with burial in Union Cemetery, Flandreau. Visitation is from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Tuesday with a 7:00 pm scripture service at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
