Pansy M. Bachman, 93, died Monday, March 08, 2010 at Brookview Manor in Brookings. Pansy was born January 21, 1917 at Fairbault, MN to Everett and Mildred (Semple) Duncan. When she was an infant her family moved to Egan, SD and she received her education at Gale Ridge Country School. Pansy married Leon Bachman on January 12, 1937 at her parent's home near Lone Tree, SD. They lived in Sioux Falls and returned to Egan in 1949. They moved to Trent, SD in 1960 and Pansy was the lunch room manager at the school in Trent. Pansy and Leon had many good times fishing and playing bingo. Her husband preceded her in death on September 26, 1976. She moved to Flandreau and worked at Spafford Elementary lunch room for a combined total of 28 years at both schools. Pansy became a resident at Brookview Manor in 2006. She was a member of the Egan United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Rebekah Lodge and sang in the adult choir. She liked to paint pictures, sing, play bingo, read the paper and cook. Pansy was noted for her contagious laugh.

Pansy is survived by three children, Joanne Olson, Brookings, Judy (Donald) Babcock, Flandreau and Dennis Bachman, Sioux Falls, eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Jane Christopherson, Lodi, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon, parents, two sisters, Arlene and Dorothy, one brother, Vern (Mike) and her son-in-law, Jerry Olson.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Flandreau with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Egan, SD. Visitation begins 3:00 pm Wednesday with a 7:30 pm prayer service all at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
