IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ofelia M.
Vaughn
November 10, 1954 – February 7, 2022
Ofelia Marcos Vaughn, 67 years old, of Flandreau, SD passed away peacefully on February 8, 2022 at exactly 17:03 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was the wife of Buford Vaughn. They shared 27 years together.
Ofelia was born in Tupi, South Cotabato, Philippines on November 10, 1954. She was the eldest daughter of the late Fely & Wilson Marcos. She attended high school at GPSMI Tupi, South Cotabato, Philippines. Prior to meeting Buford Vaughn, she worked overseas, specifically in Singapore. Upon migrating to United States of America, she worked and held a position in a clothing industry in Tennessee; she then retired after 17 long years. However, despite old age, it did not hinder her passion to continue working. She was employed at Royal River Casino just a few years ago and worked as a kitchen staff.
She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and actively participated in God's ministry. Ofelia enjoyed cooking which her family will surely miss. Also, she loved sewing and made most of her daughters' and grandchildrens' dresses. She loved volunteering to charitable organizations such as Better Living in Tennessee. She will surely be remembered for her sweet and loving personality, generosity, self-sacrificing character (she would go above and beyond to care for people), and a woman of strong faith.
She is survived by Buford Vaughn (husband). Her children are the following: (eldest) Melou Jean married to Lonie Cena; Marjorie Jane married to Sioricar Ortizano; (son) Gene Vin married to Melissa Corro; and Gayvelle Lyn married to Jay Ortizano. Ofelia has nine grandchildren namely: (children of Melou Jean) Shilhi Nyll married to Bren Atienza, Shirinne Neighl, and Nyll Lordell; (children of Genevin) Febie de Castro married to Jeff de Castro, Alyzzah G'Vynne, and Megz Bulanon; (children of Gayvelle) Alliyah N'jgaylyn, Josh J'dryck and Amelia N' Toinnette Ortizano. Ofelia's siblings are: Emie Marcos-Quiñones, Nelson Marcos, Willie Marcos, Evelyn Marcos-Villanueva and Wilmer Marcos; Arnold Marcos, Randy Marcos, Mary Jane Marcos and Malyn Marcos. She was preceded in death by parents Fely and Wilson Marcos, Melou Jean Bulanon-Cena, Nyll Lordell Cena, and Nelson Marcos.
The visitation will be on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at 11:00 to be followed by a funeral service at Pipestone Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pipestone, MN at 1:00 pm.
