Nick Otto Sr., 62, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014. Nick was born September 18, 1951 to Richard and Viola (Schultz) Otto in Miesville, MN. He attended Saint Joseph's Catholic School in Miesville. Nick married Donna Grohs and later divorced. He worked at Cannon Well and from 1985 – 1995 as a janitor for the Cannon Falls School District. They moved to Egan, SD in 1995 and he worked for Pipestone Jasper School District where he was still employed. Nick enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, playing jokes on people, and working in the meat shed.

Nick is survived by one son Nick (Malissa) Otto, Jr., daughter Nicole (Richard) Schmidt, Jr., five grandchildren, Tyler, Madison, Austin, Cole, Chloe, his mother Viola, three brothers, Frank (Patty), Bernard (Dina), both of Cannon Falls, MN, John (Janie), Welch, MN, five sisters, Judy (Dick) Langenfeld, Winstead, MN, Lois (Dusty) Duesterhoeft, Miesville, Mary (John) Langenfeld, Hastings, MN, Linda Heinlein and Betty (Kevin) Lindahl, both of Cannon Falls and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Richard, brother Richard, Jr., and two brothers-in-law, Dale and Jerry Grohs.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Flandreau. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00-5:00 pm with a 5:00 pm scripture service at Skroch Funeral Chapel. A celebration of Nick's life will be in Cannon Falls, MN at a later date.
