Myron "Butch" Taylor, 67, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Butch was born September 7,1946 at Flandreau, SD to Theodore and Berneice (Rice) Taylor. Butch graduated from Flandreau High School in 1964 and attended college at Springfield, SD. He entered the U.S. Navy on May 3, 1966 during the Vietnam War and after his discharge on August 9, 1967 he worked for the National Park Service at the Pipestone Monument. Butch married Ceedy Baumberger on October 31, 1972 at Huntimer Catholic Church. They moved to Tomah, WI where Myron trucked and managed a gas station. In 1980 they moved to Pipestone where he made ceremonial pipes. In 1982 he moved to Flandreau and married Laurie Porter. Butch continued making pipes until his death. He was a member of Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe and Gordon Weston Indian Veteran's Post. Butch enjoyed motorcycles, storytelling, the Green Bay Packers, and military and tribal history.

Butch is survived by two sons, Nick, Phoenix, Matt (Kellie), Flandreau, one stepson Tim Austin, Brookings, two stepdaughters, Tami Austin, Sioux Falls, Andie Austin, Brookings, eight grandchildren, Zac, Nathan, Levi, Ted, Toby, Tiffany, Cole, Terissa, one brother, Lee, Flandreau, four sisters, Nancy, Rock Falls, IL, Linda, Wyeville, WI, Theoda, Tunnel City, WI and Betty, Flandreau. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Eastman Hall, Flandreau with burial at First Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am Saturday until the time of the service.
