Mavis Lloyd, 72, of Mitchell formerly of Flandreau, died Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. Mavis was born August 14, 1939 at Mitchell to Reginald and Fern (Wecker) Faber. She was educated at Badger Township School and then graduated from Carthage High School in 1957. Mavis attended Stewarts School in Sioux Falls and then moved outside of DeSmet, SD where she worked various jobs. She married Everett Hanson and one son was born to their union. Mavis worked at the Cottage Inn in DeSmet and then moved to Mitchell. On June 9, 1972 she married Arnold Lloyd at Carthage, SD. They moved to Flandreau in 1973 and purchased the Coast to Coast Hardware Store and retired in 1994. Arnold preceded in death on March 19, 1997. Mavis was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Flandreau and WELCA.

Mavis is survived by 1 son, Pat (Karen) Hanson, DeSmet; 3 step-children, Wayne Lloyd, Flandreau, Cindy Lloyd, Rapid City, SD, Sheri Humbracht, Spearfish, SD; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; 1sister, Linda Thompson, Mitchell, 1 brother, Reginald "Shorty" (Kathy) Faber, Carthage, 1 sister-in-law, MaryJo Wittstruck, Mitchell and many nieces and nephews. Mavis is preceded in death by her husband; parents; 2 brothers, Batis Faber and Gary Faber; an infant sister, Judy Faber and 1 step-daughter, Barbara Lloyd.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 12, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Flandreau with burial at Pleasant View Cemetery, Carthage, SD. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday at the church.
