Mary E. Paulsen, 89, died Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Riverview Health Services. She was born August 28, 1922 in Flandreau, SD to Isaac "Ike" and Hazel "Peggy" (Davis) Maguire. She grew up in Moody County, attended Hess School and graduated from Spafford Grade School in 1937. Mary worked in the area until she married Peter F. Paulsen on April 18, 1942 in Flandreau. After their marriage, her husband left for the U.S. Marine Corp for four years. After his discharge from the service, they started farming and farmed for years northeast of Flandreau. Her husband preceded her in death on June 28, 1990. Mary was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church all of her life and also a member of altar society, VFW Auxiliary and Senior Citizens.

Mary is survived by two sons, Larry (Patsy), Rapid City and Arnold (Garnet), Flandreau; two daughters, Phyllis (Wendell) Bradford, Burleson, TX and Marilyn (Loren) Burlage; Palmer Lake, CO; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters; Kathryn and Joan; two sisters and one brother.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 pm Friday at Skroch Funeral Chapel with a 7:00 pm scripture service. Memorials may be made to Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church or the charity of your choice.
