Martha L. Gageby, 79, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at her home. Martha was born in Lake Ariel, PA on March 11, 1934 to Grove and Margaret (Palmer) Swingle. She received her education at Lake Vocational High School and Lacakawanna Business School. In August of 1952 Martha enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War, until her discharge March 31, 1955. She married Charles Gageby on May 9, 1957 in Wichita Falls, TX. In 1959 they moved to Ward, SD. Martha worked as a secretary at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church for 30 years. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting, sports and watching her grandchildren. Martha was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church and Altar Society.

Martha is survived by her husband Chuck; two sons, Mark (Celeste) Pierre and Wyman (Lorie) Flandreau; one daughter Kathy Lunday, Flandreau; eight grandchildren, Rylin, Raylene, Charles, ReAnne, Anna, Shanaya, Randi, Mara and two great-grandchildren, R.J. and Sparrow. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, three sisters and a nephew.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Elkton, with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Friday with a 7:00 pm scripture service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Elkton.
