Marla Ann Thielen, 62, Elkton, SD passed away, Thursday, October 28, 2021 Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls. Marla was born on May 30, 1959 at Mitchell, SD to Cletus and Evea (Loers) Hoss. She received her education at Howard, SD graduating in 1977 and then attended the Barber College of South Dakota in Sioux Falls and worked as a barber in Sioux Falls and at Razor's Edge in Brookings. Marla was married to Thomas Thielen on November 28, 1980 in Elkton after which she farmed with her husband and raised her family. She worked at Flowers on Main and then Hy-Vee Floral in Brookings. She started Rustic Trails, a craft designer company, worked as an interior house painter and dog breeder of pugs. Marla was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Elkton. She enjoyed horses, trail riding, golfing, baking, and cooking. Marla loved her family and grandkids, helping others and decorating the church for every season.

Marla is survived by her husband, Tom; three children, Nathan (Maria) Thielen, Elkton, SD; Jennifer (Brian) Jacobsma, Tea, SD; Nicholas (Sreyoshi), Sioux Falls, SD; eight grandchildren, Isidore, Frances, Jax, Crew, Beau, Bella, Riteish, Arjun; five siblings, Lynda Nordstrom, Mitchell, SD; Connie Hoss, Howard, SD; Maureen (Bruce) Lentsch, Volga, SD; Laura (Fred) Hegerfeld, Elkton; David (Susan) Hoss, Golden, CO; and mother-in-law Donna Thielen, Elkton. Marla was preceded by a son Neil, parents, and father-in-law Marvin Thielen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 pm Monday, November 1, 2021 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Elkton, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2:00 – 4:00 pm Sunday with a 4:00 pm rosary at the church.
