Marla J. Leitzke, 76, of Colman, SD passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls, SD. Marla was born January 9, 1946, in Colman, SD to Silas and Mabel (Severson) Jensen. She received her early education at Midway Country School, graduated from Colman High School in 1964, and then attended Stewart Beauty School in Sioux Falls, SD. Marla married Arthur Leitzke on June 26, 1966, at Midway Lutheran Church. She worked as a beautician in Brooking, SD for many years. They moved to a farm north of Colman in 1975 where Marla has continued to make her home. In 1990 Marla started working at Walmart in Brookings and retired in 2020. Her husband preceded her in death on September 11, 2012. Marla was a member of Midway Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and attending all types of sporting events.

Marla is survived by her daughters, Tamara and Stacy, both of Seattle, WA. She was preceded by her husband, parents, and sister Judy.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Midway Lutheran Church, rural Flandreau, SD, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Wednesday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Colman. Please wear SDSU clothing or Blue and Gold. Memorials to Brookings Humane Society.
